From left prototypes, initial prototypes was based on pure geometries tweak without roundness so that we investigate and measure the range of geometries from simplicity to complexity. Most importantly, the volume of the 4 geometries are all same, which are 5000 cubic mils, with same height. Keeping same volume is critical for effective thermal flow inside and optimal PCB size evaluation. Then, softness for geometries were applied with carefully crafted curvature continuous surfaces. Various iterations for effective thermal flow between in and out. Airflow-in through bottom plate and airflow-out through back and top panels were chosen by the collaboration with MEs and EEs. The appearance model (dark grey model on the right side above) based on the final design was used for evaluation to find pragmetic CMF strategies.
